The Eventbrite engineering team is working to update our support for time zones, moving to standardize on the latest Olson tz database-compliant labeling scheme.

In the meantime, I’ve collected the following mapping from each of our allowable input and output values to their corresponding Olson equivalents. This may allow you create a client-side patch that will normalize our current labels into something more standards-compliant.

If you have any questions about this mapping, feel free to contact us.

The event calendar on StartMeUpRyerson uses the Eventbrite API to list certain events on the community calendar. The ones from Eventbrite, in blue, are Start Me Up’s official events and those in gray are community-added. This is a great example of PHP, Javascript working with WordPress and the Eventbrite API to deliver a custom solution for the Ryerson community.

TIP: On mouseover of the Eventbrite event, the integration requests more data from Eventbrite (title, time, where, description, image) and displays that data in a pop-up. You can then go from the calendar to Eventbrite to buy tickets.
